Christmas with the Kranks is my second favourite Christmas film (my favourite is The Muppet’s Christmas Carol). I’ve always wanted to read Skipping Christmas by John Grisham—the book on which the film is based—so today I finally hunkered down and read it. It’s hilarious! It’s almost as good as the film (yes, in my opinion, this is one of those rare instances when the film is actually better than the book). With only a few minor adjustments, the book is almost identical to the film. But even if you’ve watched it before, I’m sure the book will still leave you giggling with festive delight. It only took a few hours to read, so if you’re looking for a quick and funny Christmas story to help fill the gaps in this topsy-turvy pandemic holiday, I recommend grabbing a copy. Bentley’s Grade: A
Babalu! Babalu! Desi Arnaz was famous for more than just this hit song—he helped to transform television as we know it today. His memoir, appropriately titled A Book, is a highly entertaining gaze into an extraordinary life. * *

“The Girl with the Lower Back Tattoo” will make you laugh, cry, and cringe as Amy Schumer takes you on a hilariously graphic, and surprisingly insightful, roller coaster ride through the ups and downs of her unpredictable life. Told using her signature blend of wit and self-deprecation, Amy shares all the details in this no-filter-required memoir.
What a gem of an audiobook this is! Forgotten in an old file box for over thirty years, Lucille Ball’s memoir might never have been published had it not been for her daughter’s discovery of the manuscript just a few months after Lucy’s death. Lucy begins with her childhood in Jamestown, then dazzles the reader with stories of old Hollywood, Broadway, her intensely passionate relationship with Desi, the I Love Lucy show, motherhood, and everything in between. *
